Client Java Developer

Engineering Department -- PAVIA, ITALY

We are looking for a Java Developer to join our Client Team. The candidate must have good knowledge of OOP, Java and a genuine enthusiasm for software development. Previous experience with Android (other mobile platforms) is also required. This is a unique opportunity to work for a fast growing Open Source project.

Required Education and Experience

Various degrees of education and experience will be considered provided the applicant's experience demonstrates the following requirements:

Bachelor of Computer Science or Engineering degree
2 or more years experience in OO design and Java/C++ development
Experience developing commercial software
Experience developing open source software

Responsibilities

Design and develop robust and maintainable mobile Java applications
Maintain and improve existing software
Deliver code, test cases and documentation on time with in-house quality standards

Skills/Abilities/Knowledge/Personal Suitability

Good mobile Java development knowledge (Android preferred)
Good knowledge of object-oriented design techniques
Good level of English
2+ years relevant work experience
Good understanding of Internet protocols, in particular IMAP, POP, SMTP
Good understanding of mobile and constrained devices performance issues

The following are considered a plus:

C++ (mobile or embedded environment preferred)
SyncML
Unix/Linux experience
Experience in developing UI
Open source development experience (please specify the project you contributed to)

Additional Information

This position is being offered preferably in Pavia, Italy (near Milan), but remote employees will be considered too. Full time contract; salary proportioned to the candidate skills + bonus + stock options.
