We are looking for a software quality assurance engineer to join our team. The candidate must have an understanding of the software development process and a genuine enthusiasm for product development. This is an unique opportunity to work for a fast growing open source project and company.

We are looking for someone with a great attitude who enjoys working on a team. The candidate should be good at multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment. You should be detail-oriented and have a strong technical aptitude.

Responsibilities:

Writing / developing test plans for software products and enhancements based on business product requirements
Developing testing tools to assist in the testing of software products
Testing software for mobile devices and back-end servers
Deep analysis of software design issues and bugs found during testing, on device and server side
Setting up testing environments on Linux and Windows based systems. This includes setting up virtual machines from the OS level up to the installation of our product software
Active participation in the open source community bug tracking / reporting and mailing lists in relation to our software products

Requirements (must have):

2 to 3 years of QA experience, development of test plans or 2 to 3 years of software development experience
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related field
Experience developing tools / scripts
Experience with Operating Systems - Microsoft Windows, Linux, Unix
Experience with Java and related concepts
Experience with databases, such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle
Experience with SQL
Familiarity with application servers, such as Tomcat, JBoss, WebSphere
Strong knowledge of the software development lifecycle
Understanding of client-server Architecture and testing or development experience in this area
Good organizational skills
Good communication skills, written and spoken (must be able to communicate in English in speech and writing)

These skills are a plus:

Experience writing automated testing tools / scripts
Experience with Agile Methodologies, such as Scrum, for development
Experience in the mobile device industry (application development or support)
Knowledge of SyncML / Data Synchronization / Device Management
Knowledge of / experience with POP/IMAP/SMTP concepts

Additional Information

This position is in Pavia, Italy (near Milan). Full time contract; salary proportioned to the candidate skills + bonus + stock options.
